An in-depth exploration of the extent of plastic pollution in Indonesia, and how it has entered our food chain and is impacting our health, is shown through the eyes of three individuals fighting this environmental crisis.

Pulau Plastik (Plastic Island) follows the story of environmental activist and Bali-based musician Robi Navicula, a young Jakarta-based lawyer Tiza Mafira, and Prigi Arisandi, a biologist from East Java. Through their unique perspectives, the film sets to expose just how widespread plastic pollution is in the world’s largest archipelago and what can be done to address the plastic pollution crisis.

The film is part of a collaborative campaign to tackle the issue of single-use plastic in Bali and beyond. Pulau Plastik leverages popular culture and includes social media campaigns, public service announcements, video series, and feature-length documentary to increase awareness about the hazards of single-use plastic, change people’s behavior, and advocate for change.

The film is shown in major cinemas in Indonesia, bringing this issue to a mainstream audience in the country. It is available on the Netflix streaming service globally.
